Mr. Potato Head is a child's toy that will probably last through the ages.  What child doesn't like to change the faces on that iconic toy and make him feel every emotion out there?

So I guess it's only natural that he shed his potato shape for the holidays and become a pumpkin.  After all, isn't everything going pumpkin this time of year?

I put my toy playing skills to work and designed up a plastic canvas version of the famous potato head with a pumpkin twist just in time for your Halloween crafts and play time.

Mr. Pumpkin head was super simple to make and was completed and being played with in a matter of a few TV hours.  (After all the fall TV season is starting so I have to find a productive way to justify my binge watching.  Am I the only one?)

Pumpkin Head Plastic Canvas Toy Pattern

To make your own potato head pumpkin toy, print out the four pattern sheets in the Pumpkin Face Zip File HERE.  Using the patterns cut out at least one of each of the pieces.  (I like to use two so I can overcast the pieces together and protect the yarn from unrolling while little hands are playing with the toy.)

Sew one pumpkin face using orange goblin stitches and green continental stitches.

Once your pumpkin is complete, if desired, overcast the non-sewn piece to the back of the sewn piece of pumpkin.  This will protect the yarn from unraveling while little hands are playing with the toy.

Using pieces of Velcro, glue on the soft side to the front of the pumpkin in the place where the eyes, nose, and mouth should go.

There are 5 eye, nose, and mouth pieces to pick from in the pattern so sew as many as you want to make your pumpkin head plastic canvas toy fun for the little ones.  Overcast the back to in-sewn pieces as you did the pumpkin head.

Place the scratchy side of Velcro to the back of the eyes, noses, and mouths so they will attach to the pumpkin head.

Give your Mr. Pumpkin Head plastic canvas toy to your favorite little one and enjoy the hours of
silence as they play. (Okay, probably not, but enjoy whatever time you do get!)
